Raise a glass
Nothing says 'bring on Christmas' more than a glass of mulled wine. Ours is made from red grape varieties, blended with festive citrus, cloves and cinnamon spice flavours for a soft, fruity finish. Warm gently and garnish with a slice of orange, star anise and a cinnamon stick. Or add a splash of orange juice for a brighter twist.
No.1 Bordeaux Supérieur, Bordeaux, 2023
Made exclusively for Waitrose & Partners by Maison Sichel, a family-owned Bordeaux merchant established in 1883. This wine comes from their Château Argadens estate, a sustainably farmed 40-hectare vineyard boasting exceptional soils and a perfect microclimate. No herbicides are used on the estate so it is a haven for wildlife with beehives, an orchard and free-roaming chickens and geese. Rich cassis on the nose is followed by a generous palate of bramble fruit, dark plum and a hint of tobacco.
No.1 German Pinot Noir, Rheinhessen, 2025
Made exclusively for Waitrose & Partners by Konstantin Guntrum, 11th generation winemaker. The family estate was established in Nierstein in 1923, but the Guntrum family have been growing grapes in Nierstein and Oppenheim since 1909. The estate became famous in 1945 when US General Patton and his troops crossed the river Rhein at the estate and seized the family mansion. The vineyards have been carefully selected to ensure that the grapes reach peak ripeness while maintaining a balance between flavour and acidity. The trellis system used to train the vines allows for perfect exposure, helping the grapes to develop their enticing raspberry and cherry aromas and soft, ripe palate.
